Safety

• Meet in a public place the first time, every time.
• Tell a friend or family member where you'll be and when you expect to be home.
• Drive yourself or use your own ride-share. Don't accept a ride from someone you've just met.
• Trust your instincts. If something feels off, leave.

• Don't share your home address, workplace, or daily routine until you trust someone.
• Use the in-app chat rather than moving to off-platform messengers until you're comfortable.
• Never share financial information, account passwords, or government IDs.
• Be skeptical of anyone who pushes you to communicate off the app quickly.

Red flags include:

• Asking for money, gift cards, or cryptocurrency for any reason.
• Claiming to be stuck overseas or have a sudden emergency.
• Asking you to invest in something (especially crypto).
• Photos that look professional or too perfect — they may be stolen.
• Refusing to video chat or meet in person.

If you suspect a scam: stop responding, take screenshots, and use the Report button. Don't worry about being wrong — moderators investigate.

Every profile and every message has a Report button. Reports are reviewed by a human moderator, usually within 24 hours. Your identity is not shared with the person you report.

The Block button immediately and permanently removes the other person from your view. Blocked members cannot see your profile or message you. We may also block someone on your behalf if our systems detect harassment patterns.

DivorceAve may notify you, where permitted by New York General Business Law and similar laws, when a member you have matched or messaged was previously banned from DivorceAve for violating our community standards. We provide these notices as a safety measure and keep them factual and limited.

The absence of a notice is not a representation that any member is safe. A previously unbanned member can still be someone you should walk away from. Use these guidelines and your own judgment.

• Immediate danger: call 911.
• Crime that already happened: file a police report with your local department. We will cooperate with valid legal process to preserve evidence.
• Sexual assault: RAINN National Sexual Assault Hotline, 1-800-656-HOPE (4673), 24/7, free, confidential.
• Domestic violence: National Domestic Violence Hotline, 1-800-799-7233.
• Mental health crisis: 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
• Identity theft or financial fraud: report to reportfraud.ftc.gov.

We cooperate with valid legal process — subpoenas, court orders, search warrants. We can preserve account data, messages, and IP logs when requested by law enforcement pending receipt of valid legal process. We will notify the affected user before responding unless prohibited by law or unless we believe notice could endanger someone.
