The team
DivorceAve Editorial
The byline behind every article on DivorceAve.
DivorceAve Editorial is the team of writers, researchers, and editors behind the articles on DivorceAve. We don't publish under individual names, but every piece is written by someone with lived experience of divorce — our own, or close to it — and edited to a specific standard before it goes live.
Who we are
The team is small. We're divorced adults, children of divorce, and people whose siblings or close friends have been through it. Several of us have professional backgrounds in therapy, family law, journalism, or product design. All of us are living through, or have lived through, the chapter we're writing about.
We don't have a single founder's name attached to DivorceAve on purpose. The project is a publication, not a personal brand. The experience we write about is specific enough — being divorced in your 30s, 40s, or 50s and trying to figure out what's next — that we didn't want one voice carrying it. We wanted a collective one.
Our principles
Every article we publish passes an editorial standard before it goes live. In rough order:
- Honest over useful. If a piece of advice is technically correct but doesn't match what divorced people actually feel, we don't publish it. Our audience has heard the generic version. We give them the real one.
- Specific over general. "Dating after divorce is hard" isn't an article. "How to answer 'so, what happened?' on a first date" is one. Every article should solve something.
- Warm, not performative. We're not here to be inspiring, uplifting, or triggering. We're writing to a reader who is tired of being coached. We talk the way we would to a close friend.
- No pop psychology without evidence. If a claim comes from research, we say what research. If it comes from clinical experience, we say so. If it's a shared observation across our team, we say that too.
- Nothing we'd be embarrassed for our ex to read. It keeps us honest.
What we don't do
- We don't write SEO-stuffed listicles. Every article is written to be read, not to be ranked.
- We don't run sponsored content disguised as editorial.
- We don't publish AI-generated prose and sign a human name to it.
- We don't use our articles as funnels to sell someone a $997 course on "how to date after divorce." If you want to see what we do sell — a private community — it's described openly on the community page.
